📝 A Stepmom Story: That "Something's Not Quite Right" Moment
I arrived from a long trip. Weary from driving over a hundred kilometers, I was greeted by my son at home.
“Mom, the big sisters were talking to their mom last night. Big Sister 1 asked their mom if she wanted to say hi to me. She said NOOOO! Does their Mom still have a thing about you and Dad?”
I looked at my biological son and answered, “I’m not sure. Maybe. At least we know she is not outrightly okay. It’s nice to know where we stand.”
“She’s crazy. I don’t like her.” He said jokingly but I was wondering how he really felt.
When I heard about how the ex did not want to just say hello to my son, I was not abruptly hurt. I honestly wondered, “Is there something wrong again?”
That night, Big Sister 2 messaged me, “Mom, I am sorry about how my mother treated Little Brother in that video call. I called her out and told her she should not be that way.” She seemed bothered that she sat by my bedside a little later to tell me again that she was sorry. I just smiled and shrugged it off.
This confirmed to me that something’s the matter. I looked at my 22-year old stepdaughter and thought about the years that have passed.
We made it this far.
If something is up, I am sure we can go further together.
Noodle love. ♥️ In Karuizawa. In Calamba. And in Sakura.
